Team Peugeot Sport showed resilience in Le Mans

The PEUGEOT 9X8 #94 and #93 finished 11th and 12th in the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Team Peugeot TotalEnergies scored six points in the FIA WEC.

This 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which marked the centenary of PEUGEOT’s first participation, did not deliver the result Team Peugeot TotalEnergies had hoped for. Lacking outright pace in qualifying, the two PEUGEOT 9X8s lined up 16th and 18th on the grid for the race start on Saturday 13 June.

In this highly challenging context, the six drivers remained fully committed throughout the 24 hours, completing long stints without easing off, including two quintuple stints for Malthe Jakobsen. Despite a rear-end assembly change on car #94 and a drive-through penalty for car #93 during the night, the team executed a controlled and disciplined race from start to finish, never giving up.

Both PEUGEOT 9X8s reached the finish of an unforgiving race, underlining the reliability of the package over the full distance. Car #94, driven by Loïc Duval, Théo Pourchaire and Malthe Jakobsen, finished 11th after 377 laps. Car #93, with Paul di Resta, Nick Cassidy and Stoffel Vandoorne, finished 12th, covering 5,123 kilometres without any technical issues.

The team leaves Le Mans with six championship points and a reinforced determination to improve. While the result falls short of expectations, the lessons learned will play a key role in the ongoing development of the project and its long-term ambitions.

With the FIA WEC season still in full swing, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies is already focused on the upcoming rounds, determined to keep progressing and return stronger. The team now turns its attention to the next race: the 6 Hours of São Paulo on 12 July.

Beyond the race itself, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies and the PEUGEOT brand enjoyed an especially rich and engaging weekend, welcoming more than 2,000 guests across the event.

Numerous activations took place at the Circuit de la Sarthe, including the PEUGEOT fan zone, where the brand unveiled the Polygon concept car alongside its Hypersquare simulators, the Cinema Drive-In Paradiso in partnership with mk2, and the manufacturer village, where PEUGEOT officially launched sales of the new E-208 GTi.

On Saturday 13 June, ahead of the race, the centenary parade brought together historic race cars and iconic road models on track. Several figures of the brand and motorsport world took part, including John Elkann (Chairman of Stellantis), Emmanuele Cappellano (COO Enlarged Europe Stellantis), Alain Favey (CEO PEUGEOT) and Pierre Fillon (President of the ACO) at the wheel of the PEUGEOT 908, alongside Éric Hélary driving the PEUGEOT 905.

Blending sporting performance with brand experience, the weekend strengthened the connection between PEUGEOT, its guests and its fans, in a unique setting where heritage and innovation came together.

Emmanuel Esnault – Team Principal, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies

“The main positive is that we reached the finish of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car proved reliable throughout, and the team executed a clean race without ever giving up. We leave with six championship points and a clear determination to improve. The result is not what we were aiming for — we lacked outright performance in qualifying, and that carried into the race. However, this edition provides valuable lessons as we continue to build towards 2027. The season is still long, and we will keep pushing to become more competitive.”

Loïc Duval (PEUGEOT 9X8 #94)

“It was a difficult race, as expected after qualifying. We were lacking performance, so we did the best we could. Both cars made it to the finish without issues, and we scored some points. Well done to the whole team and my teammates for their efforts.”

Malthe Jakobsen (PEUGEOT 9X8 #94)

“I completed two quintuple stints, so I spent a lot of time in the car, but I really enjoyed it. We maximised everything we had this weekend and managed to come away with some points.”

Théo Pourchaire (PEUGEOT 9X8 #94)

“We gave everything and left nothing on the table. I even managed a strong lap at the end despite the track conditions. It’s disappointing because we all dream of winning this race, but we did our best. It was an incredible experience for me — my second Le Mans — and hopefully not my last.”

Nick Cassidy (PEUGEOT 9X8 #93)

“These 24 hours were extremely tough. The team was incredible — absolutely relentless and flawless operationally. It only strengthens our determination to come back stronger and fight for success next year. We’re already looking ahead to Le Mans 2027.”

Paul di Resta (PEUGEOT 9X8 #93)

“It was a very demanding race, especially at the start with high track temperatures. The focus was on staying consistent, avoiding mistakes and making the most of every opportunity. The team stayed sharp throughout.”

Stoffel Vandoorne (PEUGEOT 9X8 #93)

“It was a long and intense race, especially with multiple night stints. It wasn’t easy mentally given our position, but we stayed united, focused and gave everything until the end.”*

Malthe Jakobsen (PEUGEOT 9X8 #94)

“During the race I completed two quintuple stints, which made for a very long time in the car. But I still enjoyed it. We did everything we could to make the most of the package we had this weekend, and we were able to score championship points.”

Théo Pourchaire (PEUGEOT 9X8 #94)

“We did what we could and gave everything. On my side, I left nothing on the table. On the final lap I even set a pretty good time considering the track heat. It’s a disappointing result because we dream of winning this race, but we did our best. Thanks to the whole team. It was a dream for me to race in Hypercar, my second Le Mans, and hopefully not my last.”

Nick Cassidy (PEUGEOT 9X8 #93)

“These 24 hours were extremely demanding. The team was incredible, absolutely relentless, and made no operational mistakes. For me and for the whole team, it only strengthens our desire to come back even stronger and succeed next year. We are already looking towards Le Mans 2027.”

Paul Di Resta (PEUGEOT 9X8 #93)

“The race was very difficult, especially the start with high track temperatures. Our goal was to avoid mistakes, stay consistent and optimise our strategy. The team remained very focused and alert to seize any opportunity.”

Stoffel Vandoorne (PEUGEOT 9X8 #93)

“It was a long stint sequence, four night stints, and mentally not easy given our position. But we gave everything and stayed united and motivated until the finish.”
