Americas Rallycross (ARX)

Tanner Foust (USA) has won the American Rallycross Championship (ARX). In qualifying for the season finale in Mid-Ohio, when the 46-year-old from the Andretti team drove to second place in his Volkswagen Beetle, he had already earned enough points to claim the title prematurely.

In the dramatic semi-finals under extremely difficult track conditions, Foust crossed the finish line in second, but received a 5-second penalty for leaving the track and subsequently finished in fourth place, thus not qualifying for the final. This means that the Beetle R has collected an important title for the fifth time in a row: three global rallycross and two Americas rallycross victories.

After qualifying, Foust said, “What a season. What the team has done has been just perfect. I am very grateful to Volkswagen R to have provided this car. I have not missed a rallycross contest since the 2006 X Games. But most importantly, the Beetle remains unbeaten.”

Past successes of the racer and commentator include victories in the Rally America PGT, rallycross events and the Formula Drift Pro. His team-mate Cabot Bigham (USA) was knocked out in the semi-finals. The victory in the final went to Chris Atkinson (Subaru).
